Historical town in the Central Bohemia hosting the UNIF Futnet World Cup 2014

Brandýs nad Labem – Stará Boleslav, the city with the second longest designation in Czech republic, will be hosting the UNIF Futnet World Cup in futnet since 28th of November until the 30th of November.

With approximately 17,000 inhabitants and a location on both banks of the river Elbe at a distance of just 15 km northeast from the Czech capital – Prague, the city is a natural center of the Central Bohemia region.

Stará Boleslav is primarily associated with the historical character of Saint Wenceslas, who was assassinated here in 935, and also with the Marian pilgrimage tradition, being the oldest pilgrim place in Czech republic.

Brandýs was experiencing its „golden age“ during the rule of the Habsburgs, who cultivated the local castle and also often resided here. Brandýs was especially enjoyed by the emperor Rudolph II.

The dominant feature of the city is the chateau/castle in Brandýs nad Labem, among other important monuments we shall include the Pilgrimage Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, St. Wenceslas‘ Basilica or the City Gate in Stará Boleslav.

For the participants and all the guests at the UNIF World Cup, the most important venue will be the Sportcentre of Brandýs, where the centre of the whole event will be located. The Friday’s matches will start the tournament there and the whole event will also be concluded there by the Sunday’s finals.
